Job summary

The City of Dayton Department of Water is seeking a Kiln Operator I to ensure smooth operation of the kiln feed end, monitor equipment and perform routine duties at 371 West Second Street, Dayton, OH. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least six months of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Candidates will work with SCADA systems and perform laboratory analyses; background checks and drug screenings are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).
• Six months experience operating mechanical equipment, preferably kilns; OR experience with sampling protocols and pump operations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain thereafter.
• Must not be colorblind.

Responsibilities

• Monitor kiln feed end operation by checking belts, bearings, pump packings, thickener basins, recarbonation basins, carbon dioxide lines and material pumps.
• Perform preventive maintenance or emergency repairs as needed.
• Collect samples, process materials and determine the operational quality.
• Read and record data from SCADA, meters and gauges.
• May be assigned to full-time maintenance work.
