Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are partnering with a friendly primary school in Kettering to appoint a Year 5 Class Teacher from September 2026. The role is offered as full-time or part-time and is a permanent position within a supportive school community.

The successful candidate will plan, deliver and assess engaging Year 5 lessons, support pupils' academic and personal development, and work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to raise attainment.

Qualifications

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, especially Year 5, is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Primary National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Passion for helping children achieve their best academically and personally.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Reflective and adaptable approach to teaching; ECTs encouraged with induction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, creative, and purposeful lessons across the Year 5 curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and raise attainment.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning, and presentation.
  • Differentiate and adapt learning to ensure all pupils access the curriculum.
  • Develop pupils' confidence, independence, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Work with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to support pupil outcomes.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school community.

The Role

The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, particularly Year 5, is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of the Primary National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A passion for helping children achieve their best academically and personally.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • A reflective, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
  • ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply and will receive a comprehensive induction and mentoring programme.
