Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a caring, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Garstang. This full-time role is in a Year 1 classroom, starting immediately, with potential for a permanent contract.

The role involves supporting the class teacher, delivering 1:1 and small group work, and assisting with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy. A DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting early years or Key Stage 1 pupils is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support the Year 1 Class Teacher with delivering engaging lessons.

Teaching Assistant - Year 1 (Full-Time)

Garstang | Immediate Start | Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Teaching Personnel are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Garstang. This is a full-time position within a Year 1 classroom, starting as soon as possible.

The role is initially offered on a temporary agency basis, with the potential to move onto a permanent school contract for the right candidate following a successful placement.

The Role

• Supporting the Year 1 Class Teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils
• Assisting with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting pupils' social and emotional development
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
• Supporting children of varying abilities to reach their full potential
• Assisting with classroom preparation and general classroom duties

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, or childcare setting
• Experience supporting Key Stage 1 pupils is desirable
• A patient, proactive, and positive approach to supporting learning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A genuine passion for helping children succeed
