Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd in Kent is seeking a diligent Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our commercial team. Based in Kent, you will actively tender, estimate and measure costs for contracts across painting and refurbishment projects within the South London and Kent region.

You will work closely with operations to manage budgets, supplier and client relations, and ensure value is captured from tender through final account. A strong eye for commercial opportunity and integrity is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar estimating and commercially focused surveying role.
• Experience of managing commercially a total value of works up to £2 million annually.
• Experience of working for a painting or refurbishment contractor would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks and mitigation.
• Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.
• Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
• Build strong client, supplier, and subcontractor relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual, commercially viable solutions are sought.
• Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety)
