Job summary

Shaw Trust is seeking a dedicated practitioner to manage a caseload of participants in custody and the community, delivering high-quality guidance to enable resettlement and progression toward employment.

You will support individuals with complex needs, building partnerships and maintaining professional boundaries, while navigating DBS requirements and vetting. Essex onsite role with strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • ICT proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent experience.
  • Commitment to rehabilitation of prisoners and supporting prisoners/prison leavers with complex needs.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and build effective partnerships to achieve targets.
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening and motivational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of participants in custody and the community with high quality support and guidance.
  • Help participants engage, break down barriers and progress towards education, training and employment.
  • Deliver casework that supports sustained resettlement and achievement of milestones.

Purpose

Manage a caseload of participants in custody, and community, providing high quality support and guidance, enabling participants to engage and break down barriers to successful resettlement, achieve agreed milestones and develop enhanced skillsets, leading them into an ultimate goal of sustainable employment.

Essential
  • ICT proficiency including all major Microsoft applications. Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent experience
  • A commitment to the rehabilitation of prisoners with experience of supporting prisoners and prison leavers with complex needs, helping them overcome barriers and progress towards education, training, and employment.
  • Skilled in managing challenging behaviour, building effective partnerships, and achieving performance targets while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including active listening and motivational skills to support those from a range of backgrounds. Proactive and solution focussed taking the initiative to create opportunities

In addition to DBS and reference checks, the successful candidate must pass HMPPS vetting

This role is onsite Essex, United Kingdom
