Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited in Wakefield is seeking a Junior Workshop Engineer (Hands-On) to start a career in engineering with full training in a busy workshop. The role offers clear progression to an engineering position as you gain practical, hands-on skills.

You will learn by doing, support the workshop team, and contribute to production in a modern facility. Mon-Fri, 8am–4pm (finish 1:30pm on Friday). Salary £25,000–£30,000 with excellent work-life balance and 31 days holiday.

Qualifications

• Recent college leaver or someone starting their career in engineering/manufacturing in a hands-on role.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical skills in a busy workshop.
• Motivation to progress into a formal engineering position with training and support.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the workshop team with general duties and keeping the workspace clean.
• Learning and developing practical skills in a hands-on environment.
• Assisting with production tasks as needed.
• Progression into an engineering role through training and development.
• Adhering to the 8am–4pm (Mon–Thu) and 1:30pm finish on Fridays schedule.

The Role:

• Jumping in to help with production
• Progression into an engineering role
• Monday to Thursday, 8am - 4pm, finish at 1:30pm on Friday

• Full UK driving licence
