Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Junior Test Automation Engineer in the UK, with hybrid work (Bexhill-on-Sea or Leicester) and one day on-site. You will design and maintain automation tests, collaborate with a CIO-enabled Technology Engineering team, and participate in Scrum ceremonies to drive reliable software delivery.

Ideal candidates are early in their career, eager to learn, and comfortable with Java/JavaScript/TypeScript or Python, GitHub, and basic SQL.

Qualifications

• This is a junior role; open to recent graduates, bootcamp leavers or those moving into tech.
• Willingness to learn, grow and contribute to the team.
• Basic understanding of automation concepts and testing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the Technology Engineering team within CIO.
• Design, implement and maintain test automation scenarios for high-quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Scrum team disciplines.
• Take part in sprint ceremonies: daily stand-ups, planning and retrospectives.
• Follow engineering practices and ensure readiness and completion criteria are met.
