Job summary

Hastings Direct is hiring a Junior Test Automation Engineer to join our Technology Engineering team in a hybrid setup (Bexhill or Leicester, one day on-site per week). You’ll design and maintain test scenarios, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

This is an early-career role; you’ll grow skills in coding, AI tools, and test automation while helping ensure high-quality software for millions of customers.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with at least one coding language (Java/JavaScript/Typescript/C#/Python).
• Understanding of source control (GitHub).
• Basic SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a collaborative Technology Engineering team within CIO.
• Contribute to designing, implementing and maintaining test scenarios for quality outcomes.
• Work with colleagues across multiple disciplines within your Scrum team.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies: stand-ups, planning, and retrospectives.
• Ensure work meets definition of ready and done before completion.
• Ask questions and challenge unclear requirements to help deliver outcomes.
• Learn, grow and contribute in a supportive environment.
