The Hero's Return is recruiting for a Junior Sous Chef to join the opening team of a new restaurant beside Battersea Power Station. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality British seasonal cuisine in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers hands-on development, mentoring opportunities, and a clear path to progression as the business grows. Competitive hourly pay, 48-hour week, staff meals, and an apprenticeship scheme are provided.

Job Overview

We're looking for a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join the opening team of an exciting new restaurant next to Battersea Power Station.

Our menu celebrates the very best of British produce, showcasing seasonality, simplicity and the best suppliers London has to offer. Everything is done with a hands-on, from scratch approach, by a team that is passionate about quality and proud of every plate that leaves the pass. We are taking our ethos from executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, (formerly of St. JOHN), who has a wealth of experience in butchery and cooking and a lifetime of connections with the best British producers and purveyors and a genuine dedication for developing young and talented chefs.

This will be a busy kitchen, built on organisation, preparation and teamwork. We're creating an environment where chefs are supported, challenged and given every opportunity to progress and reach their potential.

The Role

As Junior Sous Chef, you'll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You'll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure consistently excellent food and smooth service while helping to build a positive, professional kitchen culture.

Alongside service, you'll take on increasing responsibility for the operational side of the kitchen, making this the ideal role for someone looking to develop into a future Sous Chef.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chefs with the daily operation of the kitchen.
• Leading service and maintaining exceptional standards across all sections.
• Helping with kitchen administration, including ordering, stock control, HACCP records and daily paperwork.
• Ensuring consistency, organisation and attention to detail throughout every aspect of service.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience as a Junior Sous Chef or a strong Sous-ready Chef de Partie.
• Is passionate about British seasonal cookery and exceptional produce.
• Excels at mentoring and supporting junior chefs.
• Has excellent organisational skills and is comfortable with kitchen administration.
• Remains calm under pressure and leads with confidence and positivity.
• Wants to continue learning and growing within an ambitious company.
