Job summary

The Hero's Return near Battersea Power Station is seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef to join the opening team. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef to ensure high standards and to build a positive, professional kitchen culture from day one.

In this hands-on role, you’ll lead service, support senior chefs, and take on increasing responsibility for day-to-day kitchen operations while developing your career in a busy, exciting new restaurant.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Junior Sous Chef or strong Sous Chef de Partie.
• Passion for British seasonal cookery and exceptional produce.
• Excellent mentoring and support for junior chefs.
• Strong organisational skills and kitchen administration.
• Calm under pressure with confident, positive leadership.
• Eager to learn and grow within an ambitious company.

We're looking for a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join the opening team of an exciting new restaurant next to Battersea Power Station. Our menu celebrates the very best of British produce, showcasing seasonality, simplicity and the best suppliers London has to offer. Everything is done with a hands-on, from scratch approach, by a team that is passionate about quality and proud of every plate that leaves the pass. We are taking our ethos from executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, (formerly of St. JOHN), who has a wealth of experience in butchery and cooking and a lifetime of connections with the best British producers and purveyors and a genuine dedication for developing young and talented chefs. This will be a busy kitchen, built on organisation, preparation and teamwork. We're creating an environment where chefs are supported, challenged and given every opportunity to progress and reach their potential.

The Role

As Junior Sous Chef, you'll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You'll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure consistently excellent food and smooth service while helping to build a positive, professional kitchen culture. Alongside service, you'll take on increasing responsibility for the operational side of the kitchen, making this the ideal role for someone looking to develop into a future Sous Chef.

We're looking for someone who

• Has experience as a Junior Sous Chef or a strong Sous-ready Chef de Partie.
• Is passionate about British seasonal cookery and exceptional produce.
• Excels at mentoring and supporting junior chefs.
• Has excellent organisational skills and is comfortable with kitchen administration.
• Remains calm under pressure and leads with confidence and positivity.
• Wants to continue learning and growing within an ambitious company.
