Job summary

The President Hotel in Bloomsbury, London is seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef to support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in leading the kitchen brigade. You will help ensure the preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes to the highest standards.

Working across all sections, you will uphold food safety, control stock, minimise waste and mentor junior kitchen staff. This role sits at a vibrant hotel hub opposite Russell Square Gardens with excellent progression prospects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in hotel kitchen at Chef de Partie or Breakfast Chef level.
• Proven supervisory experience in a busy kitchen.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Creative flair for plating and presentation.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations in partnership with Sous Chef and Head Chef.
• Prepare in advance ingredients, beverages, materials, and equipment for service.
• Supervise and guide kitchen staff, including junior chefs and porters.
• Train, coach, and motivate junior team members to high standards.
• Produce allergen sheets and handle guest requests promptly.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste minimisation while maintaining cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
• Step in to lead sections when the Sous Chef is absent.
