Job summary

MTS Recruitment Limited is seeking a Junior Sheet Metal Fabrication Operator in Bishop’s Stortford to join a busy manufacturing team. The role offers permanent employment and training within sheet metal fabrication, with a path toward aerospace quality standards.

You will assist in manufacturing sheet metal components, setting up machinery, reading drawings and maintaining a safe, organized workplace while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Interest in sheet metal fabrication, engineering or manufacturing.
• Some previous manufacturing experience, ideally aerospace or automotive.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings or willingness to learn.
• Good attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate fabrication machinery such as guillotines, bandsaws and presses.
• Measure, mark out and produce detailed sheet metal components.
• Read and follow engineering drawings and templates.
• Use measuring equipment to check component dimensions.
• Ensure work is produced to AS9100 or equivalent quality standards.
• Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement.
