Qualifications

  • Strong technical foundation in networking or IT infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree).
  • Knowledge of Layer 3 technologies (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRF).
  • Experience or exposure to firewalls and security appliances.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and configure network infrastructure solutions.
  • Support the implementation of routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project implementation.
  • Participate in change activities and collaborate with teams.

Skills

Hands-on or lab-based experience with routing and switching technologies

Base location: Glasgow, Havant, or Reading

Salary: up to 30,000 – £40,000 a year depending on experience + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: 6 months FTC Full time with the option of hybrid working

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain hands‑on experience in the design, build, and delivery of critical network infrastructure projects

To support Critical National Infrastructure, you may be required to complete a Security Check (SC clearance)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and configure network infrastructure solutions as part of project deliver
  • Support the implementation of routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN technologies across multi‑vendor environment
  • Assist with remote builds, staging, and deployment of customer solution
  • Work closely with project managers to deliver projects on time, ensuring technical requirements are met
  • Perform testing, validation, and documentation of deployed solution
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project implementation
  • Participate in change activities, including out‑of‑hours work where required
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project outcome
  • Produce and maintain build guides and handover documentation
