Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited is seeking a Junior Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Preston. The role offers training, uncapped overtime at enhanced rates, and a path for long-term development within a family-owned manufacturing business.

You will diagnose breakdowns, repair and maintain equipment, perform routine inspections, manage stock, and contribute to continuous improvement. Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours, with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical or electrical knowledge ideal for FMCG machinery.
• Engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or Level 3 is required.
• Junior/trainee maintenance or similar with relevant hands-on experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose breakdowns and carry out repairs to minimise machine downtime.
• Carry out routine inspections and planned preventive maintenance (PPMs).
• Maintain accurate CMMS records and assist stock management of components.

Junior Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer £40,000 + Overtime (OTE- £50,000) + Training Preston Are you a Junior Maintenance Engineer, Trainee Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Graduate, or similar with any hands‑on mechanical or electrical knowledge ideally with a background in FMCG, looking to join an established company offering training, uncapped overtime at enhanced rates, and long-term career stability? In this varied role, you will diagnose breakdowns, carry out repairs, complete routine inspections, planned preventative maintenance, and maintain accurate service records using a CMMS system. You will also manage stock of components and fittings, carry out welding and fabrication duties, and work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and support continuous improvement. This role would suit a Junior Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer ideally with FMCG machinery experience who is looking for a Monday to Friday role, uncapped overtime, enhanced rates, training, and the chance to develop within a stable manufacturing environment.

The Role:
