Job summary

SUEZ UK is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Technical Plant Engineer to support energy-from-waste, landfill and resource recovery facilities across the UK. This hands-on role offers growth in mechanical systems, fault finding, and project delivery while supporting operations teams to boost reliability, safety and efficiency.

Based in the UK with national travel, the role provides full training, a competitive salary and benefits package including a company car or car allowance and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in industrial mechanical systems beyond training (3 years) or 2 years after a graduate scheme.
• Understanding of mechanical systems; steam raising plant experience is a plus.
• Interest in project delivery, technical specifications, and contractor management.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to travel UK sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across SUEZ sites; assist with fault finding, maintenance, and operational improvements.
• Support engineering projects; prepare technical specifications, tender docs, installation activities, and commissioning works.
• Assist in improving plant reliability, efficiency, and resilience.
• Collaborate with operational, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Ensure activities comply with legislation, engineering standards, and SUEZ safety and environmental policies.
