Job summary

SUEZ is hiring an Assistant Mechanical Technical Plant Engineer to support energy-from-waste, landfill, and resource recovery facilities across the UK. This is an excellent entry-level to early-career opportunity for those who have completed placements, apprenticeships, or graduate schemes.

You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical systems, participate in projects, and contribute to improving plant reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (degree, HND, or HNC).
• Minimum three years’ industrial mechanical experience outside a training role OR at least two years after a graduate scheme.
• Good understanding of mechanical systems; steam raising plant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across UK sites.
• Assist with fault finding, maintenance activities, and operational improvements.
• Support engineering projects: specifications, tender docs, installation, commissioning.
• Help improve plant reliability, efficiency and resilience.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement.
