Job summary

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with practical experience, or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• CCNSG Safety Passport preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Up to two years' experience in mechanical engineering, construction or building services.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Carry out site visits to monitor installation activities and produce progress or quality reports.
• Prepare technical submissions, work procedures and safe systems of work.
• Liaise with suppliers, specialist contractors and site teams to support mechanical works.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, project documentation and drawing registers.
• Support commissioning and handover processes, including digital inspection records where applicable.

Overview

We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer / Technical Coordinator to provide engineering and project support across a range of mechanical installation projects. This opportunity is well suited to a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their engineering career who is looking to gain practical experience within the construction and engineering sector.

Key Duties

Engineering Support

• Assist with reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

• Carry out site visits to monitor installation activities and produce progress or quality reports.

• Help prepare technical submissions, work procedures and safe systems of work.

• Liaise with suppliers, specialist contractors and site teams to support the delivery of mechanical works.

• Provide assistance in resolving day-to-day engineering and installation queries.

Project Documentation

• Maintain accurate engineering records, project documentation and drawing registers.

• Raise and monitor technical requests, engineering queries and information requests.

• Record design revisions, project changes and installation variations.

• Support the project team with updating programmes, trackers and progress reports.

• Ensure documentation complies with company quality, safety and project requirements.

Site Support

• Attend project and coordination meetings as required.

• Monitor mechanical installations to ensure they are completed in accordance with approved drawings and manufacturer recommendations.

• Assist with inspections, testing activities and project close-out documentation.

• Support commissioning and handover processes, including completion of digital inspection records where applicable.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with relevant practical experience, or

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• CCNSG Safety Passport (preferred or willingness to obtain).

Skills & Experience

• Up to two years' experience within mechanical engineering, construction or building services.

• Basic knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment such as pumps, pressure vessels and associated pipework.

• Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

• Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a project team.

Desirable

• Exposure to BIM platforms such as Revit or Navisworks would be beneficial.

• Awareness of UK construction health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.

• An interest in developing a long-term career within mechanical construction and project engineering.
