Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area to design bespoke mechanical products using SolidWorks. You will produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and BOMs, while ordering components and coordinating with suppliers to keep production on schedule.

You will work in a small design team, manage multiple projects, and contribute to design for manufacture, with a focus on quality, manufacturability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Mechanical Design Engineer role.
• SolidWorks experience essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence beneficial.

Responsibilities

Job Profile for Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a specialist manufacturer of bespoke engineered products based in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area.

This position is responsible for the design and development of bespoke mechanical products using SolidWorks, supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture. The role will involve producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, ordering components, liaising with production and suppliers, and working closely within a small design office to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Job Requirements

• Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience preparing Bills of Materials.
• Experience ordering engineering components or liaising with suppliers.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
