Red Bull Powertrains is a Formula One power unit manufacturer and part of the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes. Established in 2021, it is expanding its team of engineers to develop a championship-winning Power Unit compliant with 2026 regulations.

We are seeking a Junior Materials Engineer to join the Material and Battery Engineering Group. You will support ERS and ESS areas of the Powertrain, collaborating with Design, Quality, Purchasing, and Performance teams to deliver a competitive Power Unit. Knowledge of electronic systems, battery cell technology, and material processing is advantageous.

This role is suitable for early-career Materials Engineers passionate about advancing their skills and contributing to cutting-edge technology.

Requirements:

• Degree in Materials Science or Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of F1 hybrid power unit materials is a plus; experience in R&D and short lead-time projects is essential.
• Understanding of material failure mechanisms.
• Methodical problem-solving skills.
• Technical report writing and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with heat and surface treatments, including supplier audits.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and new technologies like Additive Manufacturing.
• Willingness to learn and innovate.
• Practical, self-managing approach.
• Ability to develop innovative material solutions.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidate:

• Experience preparing metallurgical samples.
• Knowledge of metallurgical equipment operation.
• Experience in material testing and analysis.
