Job Summary

Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our busy Materials & Processes team here in our East Cowes facility.

Previous experience within the aerospace industry isn't necessarily required - more someone with a good laboratory or academic background who might be looking for a change of scene, and an interesting and rewarding new avenue for career development. This could possibly even be suitable for a recent graduate who has some relevant work experience gained as part of a sandwich course etc. However anyone with previous experience of thermal processing for composites will be of particular interest.

In order for us to obtain an SC, you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to the current date (but we do assess each case individually).

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Supporting the implementation of Materials and Process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production.
  • Deploying these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
  • Technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
  • Resolving issues pertaining to vendor quality.
  • Providing specialist knowledge to production activities with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality, and the reduction of non-conforming parts.
  • Monitoring production by both test and audit ensuring robust process selection, implementation, and control.
  • Supporting the delivering and deployment of a robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing process that meets all the requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Authorised Stamp Holder (MLSR).
  • Approved auditor and approved to close corrective actions.
  • Monitoring the processes and maintaining the system that is capable of meeting all regulatory, internal, and external requirements.
  • Compilation of reports for the defined area under guidance of senior staff.
  • Compilation of documents for the process controls within the area, e.g., LTI or process specifications.
  • Working as part of a team to improve and develop the process control schedules.
  • Lead Internal Projects.
  • Key personnel status for inspection projects.
  • External approval such as MRB (approval of external reports/facilities).
  • Project lead with creation of own scopes/impact assessment for the project.

Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum HNC (or ONC plus relevant workplace-based experience) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.

  • PC literate – MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, strong-minded, and committed.
  • Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
  • Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
