Job summary

DFDS in the United Kingdom is seeking a Junior Local Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers hands-on experience and a clear path to develop technical expertise while contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

You will prepare and post journal entries, perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, monitor KPIs, resolve finance queries, and assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified and/or studying towards ACCA or CIMA; solid understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
• High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in line with accounting standards.
• Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies.
• Support monitoring and reporting of KPIs.
• Manage and resolve finance-related queries from internal stakeholders.
• Maintain and review the general ledger, ensuring data integrity.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
• Support wider finance team activities and ad hoc reporting.
