Job summary

DFDS is seeking a Junior Local Financial Accountant to join the finance team. This role offers hands-on experience for someone early in their accounting career, with opportunities to build technical expertise and commercial awareness.

You will be AAT qualified and/or studying towards ACCA or CIMA, with strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems. The role emphasizes accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience using financial systems.

• Organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and posting journal entries in line with accounting standards.
• Performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies.
• Supporting monitoring and reporting of KPIs.
• Managing and resolving finance-related queries from internal stakeholders.
• Maintaining and reviewing the general ledger for data integrity.
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
• Supporting wider finance team activities and ad hoc reporting.
