Job summary

DFDS seeks a motivated junior Local Financial Accountant to join its finance team in the UK. This role offers hands-on experience for someone early in their accounting career to build technical expertise and contribute to accurate financial reporting.

You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, KPI reporting, and close processes while supporting the wider finance team. AAT qualification or ACCA/CIMA study with strong Excel/financial system experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMA; solid accounting fundamentals.
• Previous finance or accounting experience desirable; strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail; well organised and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and posting journal entries in line with accounting standards.
• Performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Supporting KPI monitoring and reporting.
• Handling finance-related queries from internal stakeholders.
• Maintaining the general ledger and data integrity.
• Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
• Supporting wider finance team activities and ad hoc reporting.
