Merchant Taylors in Croydon is seeking an IT support professional to assist the Head of IT and provide first-line hardware, software and AV support across the School network. You will ensure antivirus protection and daily backups and manage network cabling and asset security.

Install Windows and applications, relocate devices, and contribute to a flexible, team-oriented environment aligned with school activities.

Qualifications

• Provide IT support to the Head of IT.
• First-line hardware and software support on the School network with contractor support as needed.
• Ensure antivirus protection and daily server backups are in place.
• Comprehensive IT support for staff, students and visitors across the School.
• First-line responsibility for network infrastructure (cabling).
• Assist with security and asset tracking under the Head of IT.
• Maintain adequate stocks of IT consumables.
• Keep up-to-date IT records as required by the Head of IT.
• Set up, diagnose and resolve AV faults including interactive whiteboards and projectors.
• Set up or relocate desktop computers, printers, AV and related equipment.
• Install Windows operating systems, software and updates.
• Install application software.
• Install new peripherals and device drivers.
• Staff are expected to be flexible and participate in School activities.
• Work within training and authorised access; seek supervision for unfamiliar tasks.
• Record support requests and updates; escalate unresolved faults.
• Complete an agreed development plan.
• Assist Merchant Taylors’ Prep School when required.

• Set up or relocate desktops, printers, AV and related equipment.
• Install Windows OS, software and updates.
• Install application software and drivers.
• Document support activity and escalate as needed.
• Contribute to annual development plan and school activities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Provide support to the Head of IT.
• First line responsibility for hardware and software on School network with outside Contractor support as necessary.
• Ensure adequate systems are functioning to provide up-to-date anti-virus protection and daily backup for servers.
• Comprehensive support in all aspects of School-based IT to staff, students and visitors.
• First line responsibility for network infrastructure (i.e. cabling).
• In conjunction with the Head of IT, ensure systems are in place to make sure that security and movements of the School's IT assets are adequately controlled.
• Maintain adequate stocks of IT consumables
• Keep up-to-date IT records as required by the Head of IT.
• To setup, diagnose and resolve, if possible, audio-visual equipment faults including interactive white boards and projection systems/display screens.
• To setup or relocate desktop computers, printers, AV and related equipment
• To install Windows operating systems, software and updates
• To install application software
• To install new peripherals and device drivers
