Job summary

Government Digital Service (GDS) is recruiting a Junior Interaction Designer to join the GOV.UK Web team. You’ll work with researchers and developers to deliver world-class, user-centred public services that follow the Government Design Principles.

You’ll help identify and fix design challenges at scale, contributing to a community of designers across the public sector. You will support the product and delivery teams, map user journeys, and create tangible design outputs (sketches, diagrams,

Qualifications

• Demonstrated design aptitude through projects, study, volunteering or other work.
• Interest in making decisions using qualitative user research and quantitative data.
• Awareness of multidisciplinary, agile environments and ability to adapt to changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support designers, researchers and product managers to understand user needs.
• Map user journey flows for internal stakeholders and identify patterns.
• Contribute to design direction and support product and delivery teams with roadmaps.
• Share design output with the internal design community for a joined-up experience.
• Collaborate with designers openly, including workshops or co-design activities.
