Job summary

Park Signalling, part of Unipart Technologies Group, is seeking a Junior Engineer to contribute to railway product development and meet high reliability and safety targets. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team, shadow senior engineers, and learn to apply structured analysis methods.

The role emphasizes collaboration, quality, and professional conduct. You will participate in design reviews, perform testing, plan experiments, and document decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑discipline project team, delivering project needs at the required quality and on time.
  • Participate in the design and review of product/system development using appropriate tools and software.
  • Shadow experienced engineers and learn from your mentor.
  • Develop solutions, undertake testing, and document decisions and rationale.
  • Apply analysis methods such as FMEA, FMECA, Hazard, Risk or Kepner‑Tregoe.
  • Support planning of experiments to evaluate complex systems.
  • Estimate workload required to deliver engineering solutions.
  • Communicate effectively, in speech and writing.
  • Maintain professional conduct and adhere to company policies.
  • Build relationships and maintain a positive, enthusiastic working environment.
  • Escalate issues to Line Manager to facilitate resolution.

Job description

As a Junior Engineer at Park Signalling, the solutions you and the team create will support our railway products and meet our high reliability and safety targets for years to come. As we diversify into new markets and expand our technology offerings with new products and services, you will help shape the future of Park Signalling, strengthening our capabilities and sustaining critical industry technical knowledge.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑discipline project team, giving priority to delivering project needs at the desired quality, in the allotted time.
  • Participate in the design and review of product / system development, using appropriate tools, equipment and software to ensure compliance with specified requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of engineering principles; shadow experienced engineers and adopt the guidance of your mentor.
  • Develop solutions to technical challenges, undertake testing to prove solutions meet original requirements, and clearly document decisions and the rationale behind them.
  • Participate in and learn to apply analysis methods such as FMEA, FMECA, Hazard, Risk or Kepner‑Tregoe.
  • Support the planning of experiments to evaluate complex systems.
  • Estimate the workload required to deliver engineering solutions.
  • Communicate effectively, in speech and writing.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner, following company rules and policies.
  • Build effective working relationships with your team, through earning trust and respect with honest hard work and help maintain a positive, enthusiastic, supportive working environment.
  • Escalate any issues or problems to your Line Manager relating to delivery, cost, productivity or quality at the earliest opportunity to facilitate resolution.
