Reports to: Senior Designer, working day to day alongside our middle weight designer.
Graduated in the last year or two, with a bit of studio, agency or freelance experience under your belt?
Eager to learn how a creative studio actually works, beyond the classroom?
Happy taking feedback, asking questions, and putting the hours into getting better?
Role Overview
We're looking for a Junior Designer early in their creative career, ideally with around a year of real-world experience, to grow within the On Poynt Creative studio.
This role is about learning, foundations, and development. You'll work closely with Middleweight and Senior Designers, supporting projects across brand, packaging, print, digital and campaign work while building your technical skills, confidence, and understanding of how design works in a commercial agency environment.
In practice, that means picking up the quicker-turnaround work that keeps the studio moving: amends, artworking, presentation decks, logo variations and campaign assets. That frees our senior designers to stay focused on the big brand projects, and gives you a steady stream of real work to learn from, with creative direction and support along the way.
You won't be expected to have all the answers. You will be expected to be curious, proactive, and committed to improving every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Support & Execution: Support the design team across a range of projects. This may include layout work, asset creation, amends, and preparing files under guidance.
- Artwork & Presentations: Take ownership of artworking, decks and roll-out assets, producing clean, consistent, on-brand files quickly and accurately.
- Learning the Brief: Develop an understanding of client briefs and project goals. Ask questions when something isn't clear and learn how to interpret creative direction.
- Technical Foundations: Build strong fundamentals in typography, layout, colour, and composition. Learn best practices for print and digital file setup.
- Feedback & Development: Take on feedback positively and apply it accurately. You'll be expected to learn from mistakes and reduce repeat errors over time.
- Working to Time Budgets: Every job we take on is quoted and budgeted. You'll learn to plan your time against that budget, flag early when something is running over, and understand that great studio work has to be profitable as well as polished.
- Studio Workflow: Learn how projects move through the studio, including internal reviews, amends, deadlines, and delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers at all levels and contribute positively to studio culture.
- Client Exposure: As you grow, you'll be brought into client conversations, discovery sessions and industry events, building the confidence to present and talk about the work.
- Professional Growth: Actively develop your skills with the aim of progressing to a Middleweight Designer role.
About You
- Education: You've completed a degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design or a related creative discipline in the last year or two, ideally with some studio, agency or freelance experience alongside it.
- Creative Foundations: You have a basic but solid understanding of design principles and are keen to develop your style and thinking.
- Coachability: You're open to feedback, not defensive. You understand that learning comes from iteration and critique.
- Technical Beginner: You have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and are motivated to become faster, more accurate, and more confident.
- Positive Attitude: You're enthusiastic, reliable, and happy working in a collaborative studio environment.
- Culture Fit: We're a small, creative-first and sociable team. You'll want to be part of it, in the studio and out of it.
- Growth Mindset: You want to build a long-term career in a creative agency and are prepared to put the work in to get there.
Requirements
- Portfolio showing creative thinking, coursework, and personal projects.
- Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Some studio, agency or freelance experience (ideally around a year).
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and improve.
- Strong attention to detail for your level of experience.
- Ability to work in-studio (Leicester) 5 days a week.
