Job description

Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Technologist, Childrenswear, to support the technical team of a leading brand. The successful candidate will deliver efficient technical processes and drive product quality across children’s garments and accessories. Collaborating with buying and design teams, you will help ensure that the products developed are technically feasible and aligned with the pricing structure. Additionally, you will provide ongoing technical input across all teams on a day-to-day basis.

This is ideally a full-time role, but depending on experience, our client is open to considering part-time hours.

What will you do as a Junior Technologist?

  1. Ensure adherence to the required sealing process from initial prototype to production sign-off, including critical path management.
  2. Work with design and buying teams during product development to achieve 'right first time' samples.
  3. Manage product testing, care/safety labelling requirements, and collection of sustainable credentials for all products.
  4. Adopt a Quality Assurance approach in all aspects of the role.
  5. Review and ensure product compliance at the category level.
  6. Develop understanding of supplier technical capabilities through assessments, dialogue, processes, and visits.
  7. Raise issues with line managers and develop approaches to address them.
  8. Support the Risk Assessment process to ensure products are feasible, safe, and legal.
  9. Collaborate with suppliers to understand cost-effective production methods that meet quality standards.
  10. Understand block/size requirements and ensure consistent application across all clothing products.
  11. Drive product quality in fit, construction, and technical performance to meet customer expectations.
  12. Conduct regular market research on current and new products and labelling, alongside the Technologist.
  13. Manage and resolve issues highlighted by the Distribution Centre, working with buying, merchandising, and suppliers to ensure timely solutions and corrective actions.
  14. Liaise with offshore offices to monitor production.

What will you need to succeed as our Junior Technologist?

  • Proven experience at Assistant Technologist level.
  • Degree or equivalent in a recognized textile qualification.
  • Experience in children'swear and/or accessories, with an understanding of commercial trading requirements.
  • Experience with sustainable fabrics and certifications.
  • A passion for the brand and commitment to delivering quality products to customers.

What you will receive in return

  • Competitive salary.
  • 23 days holiday, with options to purchase additional days through salary sacrifice.
  • Bonus day off each year after 6 months of service.
  • Automatic enrollment in a pension scheme after 3 months.
  • Life assurance (subject to pension scheme participation).
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Early payday Friday finish.
  • Generous staff discount of up to 50%.
  • Interest-free season ticket loans.
  • Additional discounts, such as shopping centre discounts.
