Qualifications

• Around 1 year's experience within a fashion brand, retailer or manufacturer.
• Good understanding of garment construction
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• The ability to manage their own workload and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Confidence communicating with international suppliers
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• A Fashion/Textiles degree would be advantageous
• Adobe Illustrator experience would be beneficial

Responsibilities

• Measuring and commenting on samples, with a focus on fit, construction and workmanship
• Communicating with Far East suppliers via email and virtual meetings
• Supporting production critical paths and helping to keep orders on schedule
• Reviewing lab dips and supplier submissions
• Taking ownership of the development and production timelines for selected orders, with support from the wider technical team
• Assisting with factory audit requirements

A great opportunity has landed for a Junior Garment Technologist to join a well-established fashion and retail business on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone with around one year's industry experience who is ready to broaden their technical knowledge and take on more responsibility across the product lifecycle.

The role offers exposure to a wide and varied product portfolio, working across Menswear, Womenswear, Kidswear and Accessories, with regular communication with suppliers across the Far East.

Salary is dependent on experience.

What will they be doing?

Working closely with the Garment Technologist and wider Technical team, the successful candidate will be involved in:

• Measuring and commenting on samples, with a focus on fit, construction and workmanship
• Communicating with Far East suppliers via email and virtual meetings
• Supporting production critical paths and helping to keep orders on schedule
• Reviewing lab dips and supplier submissions
• Taking ownership of the development and production timelines for selected orders, with support from the wider technical team
• Assisting with factory audit requirements

It's a hands-on role with plenty of opportunity to develop technical expertise and gain exposure to the full product development and production process.
