Job summary

Fashion & Retail Personnel is seeking a Junior Garment Technologist for a 12-month maternity cover in West Yorkshire, hybrid working. The role supports the technical team across Menswear, Womenswear, Kidswear and Accessories.

Ideal candidate has about one year industry experience, understands garment construction, and is capable of meeting deadlines while liaising with international suppliers. You will work closely with the Garment Technologist to develop and produce products, review lab dips,

Qualifications

• Approximately one year's experience in fashion brand, retailer or manufacturer.
• Understanding of garment construction.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel when required.
• Fashion or Textiles degree would be advantageous.
• Adobe Illustrator experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical team throughout development and production to ensure products meet standards for fit, construction, workmanship and quality.
• Measure samples and assist with sample comments on fit and workmanship.
• Communicate with suppliers across the Far East via email and virtual meetings.
• Support maintenance of production critical paths and help ensure deadlines are met.
• Review and approve lab dips and supplier submissions.
• Take responsibility for development and production timelines of selected orders with support from the Garment Technologist.
• Assist with factory audit requirements alongside the Senior Garment Technologist.
• Provide general technical support to the wider department as required.

Junior Garment Technologist – Maternity Cover

Location: West Yorkshire

Working pattern: Hybrid

Contract: 12-month fixed term

Hours: 37 hours per week

Start date: Immediate start available

An established fashion and retail business is looking for a Junior Garment Technologist to join its technical team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior technologist with approximately one year's industry experience to develop their technical skills and gain valuable exposure across a broad product portfolio.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Garment Technologist and wider Technical team, supporting the development and production of products across Menswear, Womenswear, Kidswear and Accessories.

The Role

The Junior Garment Technologist will support the technical team throughout the development and production process, helping to ensure products meet the required standards for fit, construction, workmanship and quality.

• Following the weekly workload set by the Garment Technologist to support the smooth running of production
• Measuring samples and assisting with sample comments relating to fit, construction and workmanship
• Communicating with suppliers across the Far East via email and virtual meetings
• Supporting the maintenance of production critical paths and helping to ensure key deadlines are achieved
• Reviewing and approving lab dips and supplier submissions
• Taking responsibility for the development and production timelines of selected orders, with support from the Garment Technologist
• Assisting with factory audit requirements alongside the Senior Garment Technologist
• Providing general technical support to the wider department as required

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

• Approximately one year's relevant experience within a fashion brand, retailer or manufacturer
• A genuine interest in the fashion and retail industry
• An understanding of garment construction
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• The ability to manage their own workload and work effectively to deadlines
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
• The confidence to communicate with international suppliers
• The ability to take direction and learn from more senior members of the technical team
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• A Fashion or Textiles degree would be advantageous
• Adobe Illustrator experience would be beneficial
• Willingness to travel when required
