Galliford Try is recruiting a Junior Fitter for site work in Pontefract. You will join a two-man team, erecting access metalwork solutions mainly for water treatment projects, with nationwide UK coverage.

The role focuses on learning on the job, interpreting engineering drawings, and contributing to safe, on-site assembly. Training is provided, and a UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Willingness to work in a two-man team on site.
• Holds a UK driving licence.
• Safety oriented with knowledge of SSOW & RAMS (training provided).

• Assist Install access metalwork on contracts predominantly across the UK.
• Read and interpret detailed drawings, mark out and set out.
• Install and fix steel sections, open type flooring and handrails.
• Measure, cut and form handrail tubes.
• Line up and level steelwork before fixing.
• Drill and fix steelwork including handrail systems to concrete.

Role – Junior Fitter

Location – Pontefract

Purpose of the role:

Within the role, you will work as part of two-man team erecting Access Metalwork solutions predominantly to the water treatment industry.

Based within the UK with national coverage support.

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist Install access metalwork on various contracts predominantly across the UK.
• Have the ability to work from detailed drawings, marking and setting out.
• Installing and fixing together steel sections, open type flooring and handrails.
• Measuring, cutting, and forming handrail tubes.
• Lining up and levelling steelwork before fixing.
• Drilling and fixing steelwork including handrail systems to concrete.

About you:

• Eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Hold a UK driving licence.
• Must be able to work in a team and on own initiative.
• Have an interest in the work environment.
• Safety is paramount so a good understanding and awareness of this is required – working to Safe System of Work (SSOW) & Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) (As junior training will be supplied)
