Job summary

Last Mile in the UK is seeking a Junior Finance Analyst to join our Hamilton, Glasgow team. You will support the non-contestable budgeting and month-end processes under the Head of Billing and Non-Contestable Cost Management.

This role offers a comprehensive benefits package, hybrid working, 25 days holiday rising to 30 after two years, pension contributions, private medical insurance and a discretionary bonus, with a clear path for development.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain non-contestable templates for projects and sites, ensuring information remains accurate.
• Reconcile non-contestable templates against budgets and actuals, identifying differences.
• Liaise with water companies and internal departments to manage queries and support timely resolutions.
• Create variations in simPRO for changes to non-contestable budgets, ensuring updates are billed to customers.
• Support month-end reporting by preparing non-contestable analysis and related journals.

As a Junior Finance Analyst, you will report to the Head of Billing and Non-Contestable Cost Management, playing an important role in the effective management of the non-contestable elements of each project.

Your responsibilities as a Junior Finance Analyst:

• Create and maintain non-contestable templates for all Last Mile Design and Build North and Scotland projects and sites, ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
• Reconcile non-contestable templates against budgets and actuals, identifying and resolving any differences.
• Liaise with Incumbent Water Companies and internal departments to manage queries and support timely resolutions.
• Create variations in simPRO for changes to non-contestable budgets, ensuring updates are billed to customers, and any budget differences are corrected.
• Support month end reporting by preparing non-contestable analysis, variance narratives, Water Remedials reporting and POC Costs Unknown Journals.

Experience / Knowledge:

• Experience of working in a Finance role
• IT Literate with use of Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls
