Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join its Hampshire team. You will work on MEP/building services design for commercial projects, NHS hospitals, and residential schemes with a sustainability focus.

The role offers flexible working options and a supportive, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate holds a Building Services or Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent), has some relevant experience, and is proficient with AutoCAD or Revit.

Qualifications

• Building Services or Electrical Engineering degree required or related higher qualification (HNC/HND).
• Ideally some experience in building services or electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is beneficial.
• Must hold a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to deliver detailed electrical designs for building services.
• Carry out detailed scheme designs and calculations, manually or with software.
• Conduct condition surveys, feasibility studies, and report writing.
• Attend project meetings and site visits to monitor progress.

This junior electrical design engineer role is to join a friendly, growing modern engineering consultancy.

The culture of this business is to support, develop and work in a collaborative way to bring together the different experiences of their engineers to provide the best possible solution for clients.

Most of the work will be design for commercial projects, NHS hospitals (new build and upgrades) and residential, it must be noted that all design work is done with a focus on sustainability. They have excellent client relationships and benefit from ongoing repeat business.

Responsibilities

• Working alongside experienced engineers as part of a team delivering detailed designs for complex electrical systems within buildings.
• Carry out detailed scheme designs.
• Carry out calculations, both manual and by using computer‑based systems.
• Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, report writing etc.
• Attend project meetings
• Site visits to monitor progress

Experience Required

• Building Services Degree or an Electrical Engineering Degree or other related higher educational qualification (HNC/HND)
• Ideally previous work experience within building services or electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit would be beneficial.
• Hold a full UK driving license
