Job summary

Sapien is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join its design team in the United Kingdom. You will support the design and development of bespoke machinery and mechanical equipment across the full lifecycle, collaborating with an experienced engineering team.

The role suits someone who enjoys problem‑solving, understands how things work and wants hands‑on experience to build a long‑term career in machinery design.

Qualifications

• A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
• Some experience using SolidWorks, and a desire to learn it (inhouse training provided)
• The ability to interpret technical drawings and communicate design ideas.
• A methodical approach to problem‑solving and good attention to detail.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of machinery, equipment and mechanical assemblies.
• Assist with manufacturing drawings, layouts and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and project delivery.

We’re working with an established engineering business looking to expand its design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to develop their technical skills, gain hands‑on experience and build a long‑term career within machinery design.

As a Junior Design Engineer, you’ll work alongside an experienced engineering team, supporting the design and development of bespoke machinery and mechanical equipment across the full lifecycle.

This role would suit someone who enjoys problem‑solving, understanding how things work and seeing their designs brought to life.

Compensation & Other Benefits

• Salary of £28,000 – £33,000, depending on experience. (Hybrid 3&2)
