Job summary

iwoca in London is seeking a Junior Data Scientist for the Direct Acquisition team. This hybrid role focuses on designing experiments and building statistical models to shape how we reach new customers and drive investment in sales and marketing.

You’ll be mentored by the team’s data scientist and engage with a wide data science community to grow your expertise across acquisition and ML practices.

Qualifications

• Essential: You have a background in probability and statistics from a quantitative field (degree or Master’s) in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or similar.
• Research mindset: curious about new methods and actively seek better approaches.
• Judgement: critically evaluate model output and explain decisions.
• Analytical ownership: manage workstreams from framing to decision with fast iteration.
• AI fluency: prototype and automate with AI, applying it judiciously.
• Communication: write and speak clearly for non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Experimentation: design and evaluate experiments so decisions on sales and marketing rest on evidence.
• Modelling: build models that address business problems with input on approach and solution design.
• Community and mastery: engage with iwoca's data science community to align on methodology and grow expertise in acquisition.
