Job summary

Magnet in Darlington is seeking a motivated Junior Cyber Security Analyst to join our IT team. You will monitor security alerts, support security tools, and help protect our systems, data and colleagues.

This is an excellent early-career opportunity for someone passionate about technology and security to develop skills in a fast-paced environment. The role includes some travel to other sites and a 39-hour week with 2/3 days in the office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and flag potential threats.

Role: Junior Cyber Security Analyst Reports to: IT Security Manager Location: Darlington Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday: 2/3 days in the office. Oncall roat once fully trained Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 depending on experience We're looking for a motivated and curious Junior Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and cyber security who is eager to develop their skills within a supportive and fast-paced environment. You'll play an important role in helping to protect our systems, data and colleagues by monitoring security alerts, supporting security tools, investigating incidents and promoting security best practice across the business

What you’ll be doing:

• Monitor security alerts and elevate potential threats to ensure risks are identified and addressed promptly.
• Support the day-to-day operation of cyber security tools including endpoint protection, email security and SIEM platforms.
• Assist with vulnerability management activities, reviewing scan results and tracking remediation actions.
• Work closely with IT colleagues to investigate security incidents and strengthen security controls.
• Maintain security policies, procedures and documentation to support compliance and best practice.
• Contribute to security awareness initiatives and help promote a security-first culture.
• Manage workload effectively through ticketing systems, assigned tasks and security management tools.
• Act as a point of contact for security-related queries and escalations across the business.
