Job summary

Magnet is recruiting a Junior Network Engineer to join its Infrastructure team in Darlington, working in the office three days a week. The role offers 39 hours per week and a salary range of £26,538.49–£30,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the organisation's core network infrastructure.
  • Assist with network maintenance, upgrades, and project activities.
  • Support the corporate network, including firewalls, switches, and wireless technologies.
  • Investigate and resolve network tickets escalated from the Desktop Support team.
  • Monitor network performance and alerting systems; escalate issues as needed.
  • Assist with firmware updates, hardware upgrades and replacements.
  • Support disaster recovery testing and maintain network documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the network team.
  • Develop technical knowledge through hands-on experience with senior engineers.

Role: Junior Network Engineer
Reports to: Hosting & Network Infrastructure Manager
Location: Darlington, based in the office 3 days a week
Hours: 39 hours per week
Salary: £26,538.49 - £30,000, depending on experience
We're looking for a Junior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for networking and IT infrastructure who is looking to build their technical skills in a hands‑on environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll support the day-to-day operation of our network, helping to maintain critical business services while developing your knowledge of enterprise networking technologies.
