Job summary

Box UK Limited in Cardiff is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join our System Engineering team. You’ll work across cloud providers and automation technologies to support internal apps and large-scale sites, with hybrid working and a minimum of 2 days in the Cardiff office.

You’ll grow skills across Linux, scripting, IaC, Terraform and Ansible, collaborating with senior teammates to deliver reliable infrastructure and secure deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux systems.
• Scripting in either Windows or Linux.
• Setting up Linux based services (MySQL, NGINX, PHP-FPM).
• Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Using Terraform and Ansible.
• Programming or bash scripting knowledge.
• Delivering secure platforms with clean coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop reliable infrastructure platforms.
• Troubleshoot, investigate and fix bugs.
• Handle certificate renewals and OS updates.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Attend and contribute to internal sprint ceremonies.
• Collaborate with senior team members to grow skills.
• Maintain automated deployments and production infrastructure.
• Develop infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Support safe deployments, debugging and monitoring.
• Collaborate across teams to discuss ideas and solutions.
