A new full-time position for a Junior Clinical Fellow at a forensic low secure unit in London. The role involves direct clinical care and special interest training in Quality Improvement methodology. No on-call commitment is required.
Job summary
This new 10 PA post is based within the male low-secure part of the Forensic Directorate of the East London Foundation NHS Trust. It is suitable for doctors who have completed their Foundation training. The post will be based at Wolfson House ], a forensic low secure unit, (311-315 Green Lanes, London N4 2ES), with Quality Improvement as a special interest. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day care for patients on two wards, and be provided with shared office and support services at Wolfson House. The post will be divided between 8 PAs of Direct Clinical Care, and 2 PAs of Special Interest, with particular training and experience provided in Quality Improvement methodology and Change Leadership. This is a full-time position (9am-5pm Monday to Friday) with no on-call commitment.
Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will work at the level of a Junior Clinical Fellow, working on Loxford Ward and Woodberry Ward, and to join another Clinical Fellow and Speciality doctor in covering the unit. Clinical supervision will be given weekly. It is expected that the post holder will comply with the statutory requirements for annual appraisal, drawing up personal development plans and revalidation as set out by the General Medical Council and the Trust.

On occasion, there will be the opportunity to liaise with prisons and courts. Attendance at ward rounds and CPA review meetings is expected, although this may be limited because of the two ward role. A core responsibility will be the preparation of reports for the Courts, Mental Health Review Tribunals, Managers Hearings and others as required. There will be the opportunity to participate in the treatment programmes and attend unit wide activities such as academic activity, supervision, community meetings and unit events.
Two sessions a week will be committed to pursuing the EFLT Quality Improvement training methodology and the CPD accredited Improvement Leaders Programme. Guidance and supervision will be provided to join one or two strategically important projects in the service. ELFT is a national leader in quality improvement, and skills learned can be readily transferred to change management in other specialities.
