Junior Buyer - QinetiQ Target Systems

We are currently recruiting a Junior Buyer to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Purchasing Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test, evaluation, and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll support the Procurement team in maintaining high standards of delivery to our internal customers.

Duties will include:

• Assist buyers in their daily tasks while gaining experience
• Negotiate optimal prices with suppliers to ensure best value procurement
• Monitor supplier performance on purchase price, OTIF, and quality, seeking continual improvement opportunities
• Work closely with the expeditor to keep deliveries on track
• Attend daily production meetings to support build plans
• Collaborate with all key internal customers
• Resolve supply or invoice queries
• Check purchase order acknowledgements from suppliers
• Maintain procurement documents and procedures
• Input data and carry out production system maintenance

What do I need?

You should have procurement experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment, and be working towards or have recently obtained your CIPS qualification.

You’ll need to be calm under pressure and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Good analytical and organisational skills
• Exposure to planning, indirect buying, or strategic buying
