Job summary

NearTech Search is seeking a motivated Junior AI/ML Engineer to join its expanding engineering team, working on advanced computer vision and machine learning technologies. You’ll contribute from early experimentation through to production deployment, learning from experienced engineers and researchers while taking on increasing responsibility.

Qualifications

• Degree or practical experience in ML/DL.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch (TensorFlow welcome).
• Strong foundation in CNNs and Vision Transformers.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices (VCS, tests, reviews).
• Comfortable with Linux/Windows environments.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with object detection/tracking/segmentation/pose estimation.
• Exposure to ISR imagery (aerial, satellite, etc.).
• Interest in edge deployment and GPU optimisation.
• Familiarity with MLOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Kubeflow).
• Experience with synthetic data or simulators (Unreal/NVIDIA Omniverse).
• Experience collaborating with researchers.
• Interest in defence/government security applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test computer vision algorithms using CNNs and Vision Transformers.
• Run experiments and evaluate model performance (training strategies, losses, metrics).
• Translate research into robust, production-ready software.
• Contribute to scalable model training, evaluation and inference pipelines.
• Support model optimisation for accuracy, speed and deployment across edge and cloud.
• Explore emerging AI architectures and contribute to new ML solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers and leadership on customer projects.
• Participate in technical discussions and uphold software engineering best practices.
