Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support concessions and non-conformance activities on a technically challenging aerospace programme. Based in Gloucester, you will assess manufacturing deviations and determine suitable actions such as acceptance, rework or scrap, working closely with multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in mechanical/design/concessions/non-conformance role.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and 2D drawings.
• Familiar with GD&T and dimensional tolerancing.
• Knowledge of aerospace design, manufacturing and product integrity.
• Interest in concessions, non-conformance management and aerospace design.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering concessions and non-conformances affecting aerospace components.
• Investigate dimensional deviations, material defects and manufacturing discrepancies.
• Support technical dispositions: use-as-is, rework, repair or rejection.
• Review drawings, tolerances and specs to assess impact of non-conformances.
• Collaborate with Stress, Materials, Design, Manufacturing and Quality teams.
• Prepare engineering justifications, concession reports and NCR documentation.
• Ensure design intent and safety meet aerospace requirements.
• Support root-cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Contribute to corrective actions and design/manufacturing improvements.
• Provide engineering support during implementation of concessions.
