Job summary

AMS Group is seeking an entry-level Audit/Accounts assistant in Manchester to help prepare small statutory accounts within groups and support audit teams on larger assignments. You will work on trial balances, journals, and supporting workings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP and ISA requirements.

The role offers training and development, with opportunities to build experience across accounts production and audit processes in a professional services environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level or early-career experience in accountancy or audit (0–2 years).
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail, organisation and time management.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing small-sized statutory accounts for groups.
• Support audit teams on larger assignments with accurate work papers.
• Prepare and update trial balances, lead schedules and journals.
• Assist with financial statement disclosures in line with FRS 102/FRS 105 and firm procedures.
• Apply audit methodology, ISAs and quality control procedures; escalate issues as needed.
• Respond to review points promptly and learn from feedback.
