Job summary

BMC Recruitment Group is representing a North East accountancy practice seeking a Junior Accountant to join their Jarrow office on a full-time, permanent basis. The role offers a clear path to develop accounting skills within a client-focused environment.

The ideal candidate has prior accounts experience, solid understanding of basic accounting principles, and is proficient in Excel. Training and career progression opportunities are provided in a supportive team setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role.
• Ideally, some experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with accounting software would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients.
• Process purchase and sales invoices, payments, receipts and other financial transactions.
• Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with the preparation of accounts and financial reports.
• Support with the preparation of VAT returns and other basic tax-related work.
• Assist with payroll processing and associated administration.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve routine queries.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using relevant software.
• Provide general support to the wider accounts team as required.
• Develop your knowledge of accounting procedures, legislation and best practice.
