Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution is hiring a Craftsperson (Jointing) based in Redruth to cover the West Cornwall area. You will perform jointing up to 33kV, including excavation, cable laying and fault location on LV cables, and work within a small team under tight deadlines.

The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths and offers opportunities to study for the City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and TAR training.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground jointing and electrical engineering preferred.
• Evidence of English and Maths GCSE or equivalent required.
• Willingness to study for City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Engineering and TAR training.

Responsibilities

• Undertake jointing techniques up to 33 kV, including excavation and reinstatement.
• Carry out cable laying and fault location on LV cables.
• Be mobile across the West Cornwall area and work as part of a small team.
