Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is looking to welcome a Carpenter to join our team in the United Kingdom. You will craft furniture and complex installations on the shop floor, bringing IKEA's iconic designs to life with quality and attention to detail.

You’ll work 39 hours per week (Mon-Fri) with early start times; occasional night shifts and weekend work align with the IKEA calendar. You must be 18+ and safety-conscious, with opportunities for development and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Carpentry NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations/Site Carpentry is essential, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous carpentry experience in a commercial or retail environment, ideally retail fit-out or exhibition installations, with good attention to detail.
  • You are excited about home furnishings, design and how people live, and have the ability to generate new ideas to inspire our customers.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Clear communication with the ability to explain concepts verbally and with visual interpretation.
  • Due to Health and Safety, you must be 18 years old or over for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Following work briefs agreed with colleagues to implement all store media, such as wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, floor laying, painting and the building of complex furniture installations.
  • Planning and ordering materials and resources, ensuring accurate costs are sought and agreed in order to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Working with your colleagues to make sure the store is always in excellent shape to inspire our customers.
  • Focus on key tasks to meet the needs and expectations of store visitors and minimise disruption when working on the shop floor
  • Be conscious of the importance of safety at all times while working on the shop floor and take fast action when safety is compromised.

IKEA Gateshead are looking to welcome a Carpenter. As a Carpenter for IKEA, you will be part of a global brand known for its innovative and stylish designs. WHAT WE OFFER
  • The Start Date of employment can be discussed at interview.
  • Starting salary of £28,120 per annum, based on competence and experience, which we can discuss at interview.
  • 39 hours a week, working Monday to Friday. Ordinarily, shifts will start at 06:00am in the morning until 14:30pm - this is to allow you to complete tasks on the shopfloor prior to customers coming in. Great if you are an early riser!
  • This role will include occasional night shifts and weekend working in line with the IKEA commercial calendar.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
