Job summary

Places for People is hiring a qualified Joiner to carry out installations and repairs in domestic properties, with a company van and fuel card. You'll work to a structured schedule across local sites and support apprentices while meeting deadlines.

We offer 35 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), a pension with matched contributions up to 7%, overtime opportunities, and a £3,000 joining bonus payable in two instalments upon joining and after probation, subject to terms.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Joinery is required.
• Experience working as a Joiner, ideally within social housing or domestic properties.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to work in PO postcode area.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out joinery installations and repairs within domestic properties.
• Completing work such as doors, kitchens, flooring and internal fittings.
• Working to specifications, reports, and agreed standards.
• Protecting customers' homes and belongings while completing work.
• Collaborating with supervisors, schedulers and wider teams to meet deadlines.
• Recording work activity and completing required documentation.
• Supporting apprentices and contributing to team performance and KPIs.

A £3,000 joining bonus is available for this role. The bonus will be paid in two instalments: £1500 upon joining Places for People and a further £1500 upon successful completion of your probation period, subject to the terms of the scheme.

What You'll Be Doing

• Carrying out joinery installations and repairs within domestic properties

What Your Day Looks Like

• A structured schedule covering repairs and maintenance work
• Travelling between jobs in your company van
• Working independently or with a team of other tradespeople
• Engaging directly with Customers in their homes
• Completing work efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance standards

• Empty (void) properties
• A range of domestic properties within your local area
• Environments involving vulnerable Customers

Essential Criteria

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Joinery
• Experience working as a Joiner, ideally within social housing or domestic properties
• Full UK driving licence
• Due to the area this patch covers, you will need to be based within the PO postcode

Nice To Have

• Experience working across multiple trades
• IT literacy or willingness to learn digital systems
