Job summary

Equals One Ltd is seeking an experienced Handyman/Joiner for flexible, self-employed work across Hull and surrounding areas. This role involves carrying out repairs and maintenance in residential properties, with emphasis on independence and reliability.

The ideal candidate has hands-on joinery and general repair skills, knowledge of building regulations for social housing/HMOs, and owns basic tools with a valid UK driving licence. A company van will be provided in due course.

Handyman / Joiner - Self-Employed

Location: Hull and surrounding areas
Hours: 20 hours per week, plus overtime
Rate: Dependent on experience
Contract: Self-Employed

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Handyman / Joiner to carry out repairs and maintenance to residential properties across Hull and the surrounding area.

This is a varied, hands‑on role for someone who is comfortable working independently and can turn their hand to a range of property repairs and maintenance work.

You should also have a good understanding of the building regulations and standards relevant to social housing and Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

The role

Your work will include:

• General property repairs and maintenance
• Joinery repairs
• Repairs to doors and windows
• Basic painting and decorating
• Identifying faults and carrying out practical repairs
• Working in occupied residential properties, including social housing and HMOs
• Ensuring work is completed safely, tidily and to a good standard
• Carrying out work in line with relevant building regulations and property standards

The ideal candidate

You will need:

• Previous experience in a handyman, joinery or property maintenance role

• Knowledge of building regulations and standards relating to social housing and HMOs
• A full UK driving licence
• Your own vehicle initially - a company van will be provided in due course

Previous experience working with Local Authorities, social housing providers or HMO properties would be particularly beneficial.
