Job summary

Central Bedfordshire College is seeking a Job Coach to join the Foundation and Additional Learning Support department in Dunstable. The role supports learners to overcome barriers and progress toward employment, further education, or volunteering.

Key tasks include arranging work placements, developing individual learning plans, and sustaining employer partnerships. The post is term-time, 30 hours weekly across 36 weeks per year, with a permanent contract and DBS required.

Qualifications

  • Good general education with strong written and verbal skills.
  • English and Maths qualifications desirable.
  • Experience with SEND and learner support is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Learner Support & Progression: help students overcome barriers to learning and progress towards employment or education.
  • Employment & Placement Support: arrange work experience and employment opportunities with employers.
  • Individual Planning & Skills Development: contribute to learning plans and monitor learner targets.
  • Employer & Partnership Working: build relationships with employers and placement providers to ensure safe, compliant placements.
  • Travel, Administration & Safeguarding: manage records, support team, uphold safeguarding and health and safety.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Job Coach to join our Foundation and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Learner Support & Progression - Support students to overcome barriers to learning and development, helping them progress towards employment, volunteering, further education and successful achievement.
  • Employment & Placement Support - Identify and arrange suitable work experience, volunteering and employment opportunities, working with employers to develop tailored roles and provide ongoing support during placements.
  • Individual Planning & Skills Development - Complete vocational profiles, contribute to individual learning plans, set and monitor learner targets, identify training needs and regularly review progress towards employment and education goals.
  • Employer & Partnership Working - Build effective relationships with employers, tutors, learners and placement providers, ensuring placements are appropriate, safe and compliant with College processes, including health and safety requirements.
  • Travel, Administration & Safeguarding - Provide travel training where required, maintain accurate records and quality documentation, support wider team and College activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health and safety, and professional development responsibilities.
About You
  • Qualifications & Training - Good general education with strong written and verbal skills and English and Maths qualifications, with support work, Systematic Instruction and Supported Employment qualifications desirable.
  • SEND & Learner Support Experience - Experience of working with young people and knowledge of SEND are essential, with learning support, Further Education and curriculum-related experience beneficial.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond sensitively to individual student needs, motivate learners and promote equal opportunities.
  • Organisation & Problem Solving - Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use initiative, work proactively, follow instructions and confidently use Microsoft applications.
  • Personal Attributes & Flexibility - Patient, adaptable and team-focused, with a flexible approach to working, access to own transport and the ability to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
