Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Job Coach in Dunstable to support learners and help them progress towards employment, volunteering or further education. You will arrange placements, develop individual learning plans and collaborate with employers to ensure meaningful opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Good general education with strong written and verbal skills and English and Maths qualifications.
  • Experience of working with young people and knowledge of SEND is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate learners.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills with initiative and accuracy.
  • Patient, adaptable and team-focused; DBS check and Right to Work in the UK required.

Job description

Role: Job Coach

Location: Dunstable, Kingsway, Dunstable, LU5 4HG

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,522 and £26,754 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 30 hours per week / 36 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Job Coach to join our Foundation and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Learner Support & Progression - Support students to overcome barriers to learning and development, helping them progress towards employment, volunteering, further education and successful achievement.
  • Employment & Placement Support - Identify and arrange suitable work experience, volunteering and employment opportunities, working with employers to develop tailored roles and provide ongoing support during placements.
  • Individual Planning & Skills Development - Complete vocational profiles, contribute to individual learning plans, set and monitor learner targets, identify training needs and regularly review progress towards employment and education goals.
  • Employer & Partnership Working - Build effective relationships with employers, tutors, learners and placement providers, ensuring placements are appropriate, safe and compliant with College processes, including health and safety requirements.
  • Travel, Administration & Safeguarding - Provide travel training where required, maintain accurate records and quality documentation, support wider team and College activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health and safety, and professional development responsibilities.
About you:
  • Qualifications & Training - Good general education with strong written and verbal skills and English and Maths qualifications, with support work, Systematic Instruction and Supported Employment qualifications desirable.
  • SEND & Learner Support Experience - Experience of working with young people and knowledge of SEND are essential, with learning support, Further Education and curriculum-related experience beneficial.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond sensitively to individual student needs, motivate learners and promote equal opportunities.
  • Organisation & Problem Solving - Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use initiative, work proactively, follow instructions and confidently use Microsoft applications.
  • Personal Attributes & Flexibility - Patient, adaptable and team-focused, with a flexible approach to working, access to own transport and the ability to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
